Suburgatory

BiG MACHiNE created the main title sequence for this Warner Brothers produced sitcom that airs Wednesdays on ABC.  The series follows a single father (Jeremy Sisto) who decides to move away from New York City to the suburbs to give his 16-year-old daughter a better life.

The producers of the show wanted to contrast the difference between city and suburban life in a series of set-ups in a very short amount of time.  BiG MACHiNE suggested a diorama approach (similar to the exhibits at a natural history museum.)

We shot the actors on a greenscreen stage and composited in less-than-perfect matte paintings to complete the exhibit scenes.

Warner Brothers and the producers were extremely generous with access to props and wardrobe, two elements that were critical to the success of the overall look.
